Beautiful Micro Wedding in Meridian Historical Village, Okemos, MI

Photography by AA Studios LLC

If you are looking to do a Micro Wedding or elopement in Michigan area, this cute little wedding will certainly help you get inspired.

Julia and Lei always wanted a small intimate wedding surrounded by those who matters the most.
And even though their wedding was very small, it was full of happy smiles and exciting moments.

As a wedding photographer, I know that details are always important to capture. Here are just few things that caught my eye.

Gorgeous Flower Hair comb, fall inspired boutonniere and then of course the purse is a great solution to keep all the bridal essentials!

Julia and Lei are very interesting and fun people. Therefore their wedding was full of surprises.

But we will get to it later. Let’s start with a ceremony.

Wedding Ceremony was held at Meridian Historical Village in Okemos, MI.

It was very quick but beautiful wedding procession.

And of course I have to mention the very first surprise/prank Julia set up for Lei. It was hilarious!

The thing you probably should know is that the couple agreed not to exchange wedding rings. But since Julia was arranging everything with a minister, who is her father, she told him to make sure not to skip the line about rings exchange. So first, it was pretty funny seeing Lei getting all nervous when he saw Julia reaching in her purse to get the ring. But then even more funny - when he saw that the ring Julia pulled out from her purse was a ring pop!!!

After the ceremony we started taking traditional portraits with all the family members and friends. But little did they know, Julia hired a bagpipe player to come in full traditional attire and play beautiful music for them.
See, Julia is part Irish/Scottish, so Lei once mentioned that maybe they should hire bagpiper, but he meant it as a joke. And didn’t expect Julia to actually go through with that.

But I am glad she did because it allowed me to capture pretty hilarious candid shots.

After formal wedding shots, we got to take some timeless Bride and Groom Portraits in this beautiful area.

And of course in the end Julia had another surprise up her sleeve.
Lei is a big Pokémon fan, that’s actually how they spotted this gorgeous wedding venue in Okemos, by playing Pokémon Go game.

Julia knew that he loves Squirtle, so she got him a Squirtle Christmas ornament to add to their ornament collection. Lei was absolutely clueless to what was happening, so his reaction was priceless when he saw his present.

I also wanted to mention that the weather prognosis was calling for severe thunderstorm that day, and it did start raining hard but not after we had a magical time at this Historical Village. We got really lucky with the weather!

Meridian Historical Village is definitely a gorgeous place and worth checking out if you are looking for a wedding venue!

There is chapel, a barn, beautiful lake, garden, woods.

Everything you need for a great background to take some gorgeous wedding pictures.

It was a unique wedding for sure, full of laughter and fun memories.

I hope these two lovebirds stay creative, fun and have a great future together.

Hope you enjoyed this story.
